The third exercise is another of the basics presented by PTFit, dont worry though as we will move onto more complex movement patterns in due course, you could take this as your progressive route to fitness, infact if you have any friends who would like to start their fitness then tell them to get onto this blog.
The idea of the situp is simple, to excite the core muscles, the muscles in question are around the tummy area, not only there but also around the lower back too.
I will show you a number of ways to get started with the situp as many people do tend to struggle, this is hardly surprising given the nature of most jobs, ie, being mostly seated etc... why would you need strong abs to achieve a seated position... quite simply you dont, and this is what then causes the difficulty in achieving this movement, so dont feel like you're not good enough and dont feel down about it, all you need to do is crack on with the progressive route (The slightly easier second version) to acheiveing the full movement.
